military-savesThe lifestyle of a military family brings with it many sacrifices and plenty of stress. But when a financial crisis or poor planning are added to the mix, the results can be overwhelming.

Did you know? 68% of military families say they feel stress from their family’s current financial condition.*

Money matters affect the entire family, and can impact the ability to be strong and resilient in the face of multiple deployments, PCS moves, and the many other rigors of military life. That’s why Operation Homefront is pleased to join two initiatives that will help military families learn how to save and gain more control over their finances:

Joining the Military Saves Week mission:

We are pleased to participate in Military Saves Week. Military Saves is a component of the nonprofit America Saves and a partner in the Department of Defense’s Financial Readiness Campaign. The campaign seeks to motivate, support, and encourage military families to save money, reduce debt, and build wealth. This annual initiative gives Operation Homefront an opportunity to join in the larger mission to promote good savings behavior and remind service members and their families to assess their own saving status.

You can find tips, financial advice and amazing success stories at MilitarySaves.org or Take the Pledge today.

Teaming Up with the Better Business Bureau:

Better Business Bureau and Operation Homefront have entered into a collaborative partnership to better serve military service members and their families.

Our two organizations offer complimentary services, with BBB focusing on financial education through its BBB Military Line® program and Operation Homefront providing emergency financial assistance grants.  “When organizations work together, each playing to their strengths, we have the ability to affect positive outcomes for our military families” said Jim Knotts, Operation Homefront president and CEO.  “Operation Homefront has always taken an active approach to collaboration.  We look forward to working with BBB to help our military service members and wounded warriors become more financially self-sustaining.”

BBB will refer military families to Operation Homefront for emergency financial and other assistance needs.  In turn, Operation Homefront will refer military families to BBB for assistance in resolving issues with their creditors with dispute resolution.  Additionally, Operation Homefront will help highlight financial education tips and educational materials provided by BBB Military Line.
