We received this note recently after we arranged for a soldier to attend a Daughtry concert in Denver as a VIP guest…
This is Tim.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Jim Beam for generously having me and my wife at the Daughtry concert. The pre-party was amazing and it was such an honor to meet a member of the Beam Family and learn something of the heritage and tradition of such excellent Bourbon. I also want to express my thanks for the signed Jim Beam Guitar. As someone who has volunteered to teach and perform music over the last nine years as a Soldier, this gift will always have special meaning to me.
When we receive a thank you like this, different things come to mind.
First of all, thank you, Tim, for your service to our country.
Thank you, Tim, for your heart to volunteer to teach music to others.
Thank you, Tim, for sharing your music with the people around you.
Music is an instrument that can heal hurting hearts, ease the pain of homesickness, and help recall memories from another time. Science has found that music stimulates more parts of the brain than any other human function. Its power goes beyond just entertainment.
Obviously, Tim, you understand that and have used your music to bring moments of joy to those around you. Enjoy your autographed guitar from Jim Beam. And keep strumming away…we’ll be listening.
There are other vets out there, like Tim, who use their music to touch and encourage people. If you know a vet who uses music to encourage others, please have him or her check out these locations and dates. We’d love to share a great musical experience with the right person. We have more concerts coming in the Jim Beam Live Music Series. They include fantastic artists like David Gray, Darius Rucker, Train and Bush.
It’s important to note: When we receive a thank you…we extend it to all of you who support Operation Homefront. In big and small ways. In giving of dollars or time. In wishing us well and thanking us in writing, over the phone, or in person. We could not provide assistance to our courageous military families and wounded warriors without you. Your support means so much to us and to our families who serve.
